SDH/SONET Terminal Multiplexers

Product Summary
RAD’s terminal multiplexers for SDH and SONET networks, the Optimux-1551 and Optimux-1553, combine up to 63 E1 or 84 T1 tributary channels or three E3 or T3 tributary channels (respectively), into a single STM-1/OC-3 uplink. Extending the local loop up to 80 km (50 miles), the Optimux-1551 SDH/SONET terminal multiplexer and Optimux-1553 SDH/SONET terminal multiplexer create a transmission layer fully compatible with regional and national SDH/SONET or IP networks.

The Optimux-1551 and Optimux-1553 were designed to meet NEBS-3 requirements, making these units ideal for large deployments. The Optimux-1551 SDH/SONET terminal multiplexer and Optimux-1553 SDH/SONET terminal multiplexer are typically employed by incumbent and alternative carriers to extend multiple E1/T1 or E3/T3 services from SDH/SONET networks to remote locations such as industrial areas or business parks.

The Optimux-1551 and Optimux-1553 SDH/SONET terminal multiplexers provide an extremely reliable platform that maximizes uptime for any mission-critical application.

Benefits

  • Cuts leased circuit costs and saves on costly ports on the SDH / SONET ADM by consolidating traffic at the edge of the network
  • High capacity at a low cost
  • Plug-and-play installation and operation reduces the need for advanced technical training and saves on installation and support time
  • Eliminates cost, rack space and management complexity by integrating multiple user ports into a compact platform
  • Carrier-class redundancy improves network quality of service and protects critical network traffic at all times
